Engineer Rashid, other IIOJK political prisoners face physical assaults in Tihar Jail
Srinagar: Incarcerated Kashmiri parliamentarian, Engineer Rashid, along with other political prisoners from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has been subjected to physical attacks and systematic harassment inside Delhi’s notorious Tihar Jail.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) spokesperson, Advocate Hubbi, in a statement, raised alarm over a sinister campaign inside the Tihar Jail, against jailed party president, MP Engineer Rashid, and other Kashmiri detainees.
The statement revealed that Tihar Jail authorities have adopted new tactics to attack and harass Kashmiri detainees, including the deliberate lodging of male eunuchs in their barracks. These inmates, encouraged by jail staff, are tasked with provoking, assaulting, and creating a hostile environment for Kashmiri prisoners.
Hubbi further revealed that Engineer Rashid narrowly escaped a fatal assault after a group of inmates deliberately pushed a heavy gate on him. “It was a miraculous escape. Had it hit directly, it could have been fatal. This is nothing short of a deliberate attempt to physically harm him,” Hubbi stated.
As per the statement, Engineer Rashid disclosed that Kashmiri inmates, including Ayoub Pathan of Beerwah, Bilal Mir of Qamarwari and Amir Gojri of Srinagar, were first attacked by these male eunuchs, while Arshid Tanch of Kupwara was also subjected to humiliation. He further revealed that the harassment crosses all limits whenever Kashmiris begin their prayers, as deliberate attempts are made to disturb and provoke them.
Shockingly, Eng Rashid also said that these male eunuchs have been declared HIV positive and are intentionally placed with Kashmiri detainees, raising grave health and safety concerns. He also cautioned that notorious gangsters inside Tihar Jail appear to be backing this sinister campaign, targeting Kashmiris systematically for the last three months.
Expressing deep alarm, the AIP demanded an independent probe, strict accountability of Tihar Jail authorities, and immediate measures to ensure the safety and dignity of Engineer Rashid and all other Kashmiri detainees.
