Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann exposes BJP’s hypocrisy over cricket
By not shaking hands, which Operation Sindoor has India won, Mann mocks
Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing the ruling party of hypocrisy and double standards in both politics and religion.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mann mocked India’s refusal to shake hands with Pakistani players after a recent cricket match, asking sarcastically: “By not shaking hands, which Operation Sindoor has India won?” He said the match itself was made possible because of the involvement of huge financial stakes, including money linked to Home Minister Amit Shah’s son.
“India allowed the match to happen but later resorted to hypocritical politics by refusing a handshake,” Mann remarked. “How long will the Modi government continue to fool the people?”
The Punjab CM further questioned why the Indian government permits sporting ties with Pakistan while simultaneously banning joint Sikh-Pakistani film projects. He condemned the Modi regime for repeatedly denying Sikhs access to their sacred shrines in Pakistan, including Nankana Sahib and Kartarpur Sahib.
“This year, Sikh pilgrims were not allowed to visit Pakistan for religious observances,” Mann noted. “Such restrictions, coupled with natural disasters like floods, are deepening resentment in Sikh hearts.”
Political analysts echoed his concerns, saying that New Delhi’s discriminatory policies are fueling anger among Sikhs, who were already upset over being denied permission to attend Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth anniversary celebrations in Pakistan this November.
By once again blocking Sikh pilgrims from visiting Pakistan for Prakash Purab, critics argue, the Modi government has not only violated the community’s basic religious rights but also exposed the BJP’s duplicity. Mann said this step was the latest example of the state’s long history of injustice toward Sikhs.
