Problems cannot be solved through force, oppression: Mirwaiz
Srinagar: Senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that problems cannot be solved through force and oppression.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a seminar held at Islamia Higher Secondary School in Srinagar after his release from house arrest today, said education enlightens minds and awakens the consciousness of rights and duties.
He said real and sustainable development is achieved not through oppressive measures but through dialogue, debate and interaction.
Criticizing the behaviour of the Indian authorities, he said they resort to the use of force, whether it is to impose house arrest or to close the Jamia Masjid. He said such measures complicate problems instead of resolving them.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said he addresses the congregation at the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar with a great sense of responsibility. The pulpit of the Jamia Masjid is a platform for love, understanding and constructive dialogue, he added.
He made it clear that he cannot remain silent on social, religious or political issues and will continue to seek dignified and peaceful solutions.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s house arrest was lifted today. He was not allowed to deliver sermons and prayers at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar for the last three weeks.
