Ladakh paying price for 2019 decisions: Ruhullah Mehdi

Srinagar: Member of Indian Parliament Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has said that people in Ladakh are now experiencing the fallout of the 2019 move that downgraded and split Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi speaking to reporters in Srinagar said decisions affecting the territory are taken in New Delhi without local consent.

He said even former Bharatiya Janata Party supporters in Ladakh are facing cases under black laws, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and National Security Act (NSA) for expressing disagreement.

He said the National Conference stands with the people of Ladakh in their struggle. “If they are demanding inclusion in the Sixth Schedule or restoration of their rights, we are with them,” he added.

Ruhullah Mehdi said the challenges being faced in Ladakh are similar to those in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. “What was happening in Kashmir is now happening in Ladakh and Jammu as well,” he maintained.
