Intern doctors in IIOJK face severe injustice under Modi govt, paid just Rs. 410 per day

Srinagar: Intern doctors working tirelessly around the clock in hospitals across Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) are facing severe injustice at the hands of the Indian government. These doctors, who are the backbone of the territory’s healthcare system, are paid a meager Rs. 410 per day, an amount that barely covers the cost of a single meal in the hospital canteen.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Modi government reserves this paltry sum exclusively for intern doctors in IIOJK, while their counterparts in other Indian states receive significantly higher wages for the same work. This deliberate underpayment is part of a broader effort to degrade and dehumanize the healthcare professionals in the the occupied territory, making them feel undervalued and insignificant. Offering only Rs. 410 per day to those who save lives in emergency wards and ICUs highlights the moral decay within the Modi government and constitutes a profound insult to the dedicated professionals working in the sacred field of healthcare.

Intern doctors in occupied Jammu and Kashmir are forced to work long hours under extreme pressure, yet they are paid far below what they deserve. This situation reflects the Indian government’s ethical bankruptcy, as it denies these doctors their rightful compensation. The Modi government’s treatment of these lifesavers underscores its disregard for their value and dignity.

The Indian government has turned humiliation and retaliatory actions against Kashmiris into a consistent policy. Whether doctors, teachers, lawyers, or workers in any other profession, Kashmiris are systematically stripped of respect and status by the Indian state. Since August 2019, the Modi government has dismissed dozens of Kashmiri Muslim employees from their jobs, as part of a broader campaign of political revenge.
