CIK raids multiple jails across IIOJK

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) unit of police carried out surprise raids at multiple jails across the territory, today.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Central Jail Srinagar and District Jail Kupwara were specifically targeted during the operation.

Officials said that the search drive was part of an ongoing campaign to monitor activities inside jails and ensure that no prohibited material is being used or exchanged by inmates.

“Teams of Counter Intelligence Kashmir carried out searches at Central Jail Srinagar and District Jail Kupwara today. The exercise is aimed at strengthening internal security and checking any suspicious activity,” officials said.

During the operation, documentation, barracks, and inmate belongings were thoroughly examined.

Observers note that such frequent jail raids are part of India’s wider strategy to maintain pressure on political prisoners and Kashmiri youth detained for demanding their UN-recognized right to self-determination, reflecting the continued atmosphere of fear and repression prevailing in the occupied territory.
