India finally bows down to US pressure

Islamabad: India, which claims to have an independent foreign policy, finally bowed down to US pressure and took a U-turn on its policy of buying oil from Russia.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a report in an American newspaper said India has decided to stop buying Russian oil and from December 1, the Indian company’s refinery will be run on non-Russian crude oil.
The 10-year oil contract of Indian companies is becoming meaningless in the face of US sanctions. According to the report, Trump’s 50 percent tariff forced the Modi government to stop buying Russian oil.
India had been earning billions of dollars from Russian oil for years. The value of one Indian company’s Russian oil deals was more than $33 billion.
The American newspaper says that the Trump administration had made it clear that progress could not be made on the US-India trade agreement with Russian oil. American advisors had also called the Ukraine war Modi’s war.
On the other hand, billionaire Mukesh Ambani, close to Prime Minister Modi, also stopped buying Russian oil by obeying American orders.
According to an American newspaper, after stopping the purchase of Russian oil, Reliance Industries Limited will have to buy expensive oil from the Middle East and possibly the United States.
American experts say that Reliance’s cessation of Russian oil purchases is an important concession to Washington.
