Hindu revolt against Modi regime as Amit Shah humiliated by Uttarakhand crowd

New Delhi: At a rally in Uttarakhand, Indian Home Minister Amit Shah faced an unprecedented public rebuke when his call for “Bharat Mata ki Jai” was met with silence from his own Hindu supporters, exposing cracks in the BJP’s core vote base.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Shah attempted to rally the crowd, urging them to chant the slogan and even asking them to sit down, but the audience defiantly shouted back, demanding the repeal of the UGC Regulations 2026 with slogans of “UGC wapas lo!” The protest reflects widespread anger against the controversial regulations, which critics say discriminate against general and upper-caste students by limiting caste-based protections to underprivileged communities, while enabling misuse through vague provisions.
Visuals from the rally captured peak embarrassment for the BJP, highlighting the party’s faltering grip over the Hindu vote bank it has long sought to mobilize through nationalist rhetoric. Analysts say this incident signals a simmering revolt within Modi’s core supporters, with dissatisfaction no longer confined to private discussions but erupting publicly in the heartland.
Observers note that the episode underscores growing resentment among students and sections of the upper-caste population, marking the first visible challenge to the BJP’s ability to wield nationalism as a political weapon without opposition from within its own base.
