Delay in IIOJK statehood restoration eroding public trust: Farooq Abdullah

Srinagar: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah has expressed concern over the delay in restoring statehood for Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying it is eroding public trust in democratic institutions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Abdullah while interacting with party functionaries in Srinagar said, “The prolonged postponement of this constitutional right is deeply unfortunate”.
He emphasized that restoration of full statehood, long assured by India, is not a concession but a fundamental right, and withholding it has left people’s aspirations unfulfilled.
Abdullah urged party workers and office-bearers to continue engaging with citizens, amplifying their concerns and highlighting the importance of dignity, democratic rights, and political empowerment. The National Conference, he said, is committed to peaceful and democratic advocacy for full statehood and restoring faith in the political process for the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
