Massive fire guts Islamic seminary in Srinagar

Srinagar: A massive fire broke out at a four-storey Islamic seminary, Jamia Arabia Ashraful Uloom, along with an attached mosque, in the Hyderpora area of Srinagar in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, flames rapidly engulfed the upper portion of the structure, as videos from the scene showed intense fire and people gathering outside the premises.

The blaze reportedly started on the top floor, though its exact cause has not yet been determined. The uppermost floor was completely gutted, while the third and second floors sustained partial damage.

Hundreds of students residing and studying at the seminary were safely evacuated in time, with no loss of life reported.

Officials said that during firefighting operations, a couple of firefighters and a civilian sustained minor injuries.

Further assessment of damage and cause of the fire is underway.
