India seizes more Kashmiri properties in IIOJK to advance settler agenda

Srinagar: As part of advancing the BJP-led Indian government’s settler colonial agenda in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Indian authorities have seized properties of three more Kashmiris in Baramulla and Budgam districts.
According to Kashmir Media Service, police, acting on the orders of New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor, confiscated 16 marlas of land at two different locations in Baramulla district, 10 marlas at Reshinar Rohama and 06 marlas at Daengrut, also in Rohama. The land belongs to Ghulam Mohammad Butt, a resident of Rafiabad, Baramulla. Authorities claimed that Butt was a pro-freedom activist and said the seizure was linked to a fake case registered at police station Panzalla in February 2008.
In Budgam district, police attached a one-storey residential house belonging to Ghulam Nabi Wani and a two-storey house owned by Mohammad Hashim Raina under the pretext anti-drug campaign. The properties are located at Chitroo Dangarpora, Chadoora and Hassipora, Chadoora, respectively. Occupation authorities cited cases registered in 2025 and 2026 under so-called Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Chadoora.
Since the abrogation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s special status in August 2019, the BJP-led Indian government has confiscated hundreds of properties, including homes, offices, land and business establishments, under various pretexts. Kashmir watchers say that these measures are part of a broader strategy to economically weaken Kashmiris, suppress dissent, and alter demography of the territory by reallocating confiscated properties to non-local Hindu settlers.
