BJP govt brought delimitation bill for its vested political interests: Naeem Akhtar

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Naeem Akhtar has criticized the delimitation bill, saying that the BJP-led Indian government has introduced it to serve its own vested political interests. The bill was presented in the Indian parliament on Friday.

According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a party workers’ meeting in Bandipora, Naeem Akhtar described the Kashmir Valley as the “biggest victim” of the delimitation exercise.

He said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is attempting to redraw constituency boundaries in a manner that would secure it political advantage in the 2029 elections.

He further asserted that minority communities in India are not demanding reservation on religious grounds but are instead seeking an end to systemic discrimination. “Minority communities are facing discrimination under the BJP regime, which has now become a routine matter,” he said.
