India’s aviation sector in crisis as three Air India aircraft damaged at Delhi airport

New Delhi: India’s aviation sector is facing fresh embarrassment after three Air India narrow-body aircraft were damaged at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, raising serious concerns over operational safety and infrastructure management.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident took place at Terminal 2 on Sunday when sudden strong winds and rain caused ground support equipment from Air India Engineering and IndiGo to shift from their positions and collide with the parked aircraft.
All three Air India planes have been grounded following the collision. The airport operator noted that Air Traffic Control had issued no prior weather warning, sparking questions about coordination and preparedness at the country’s busiest airport.
An airline source said aircraft of other operators were also affected by the sudden weather change.
The episode has triggered criticism from aviation experts, who describe it as another sign of growing instability and poor crisis management in India’s air travel industry.
