Muharram to commence in IIOJK from June 17: Grand Mufti
Srinagar: Grand Mufti of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam has announced that Muharram-ul-Haram will begin on June 17, 2026 (Wednesday).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Grand Mufti said the crescent moon was not sighted from any part of the territory.
“As no credible moon sighting reports were received, the 1st of Muharram-ul-Haram will be observed on June 17, 2026,” he said.
Extending greetings to the Muslim Ummah on the Islamic New Year, the Grand Mufti prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being of the people
