Case registered under UAPA against two books, raids launched in Jammu

Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Counter Intelligence has registered a case under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against two books that allegedly praised Hurriyat leadership.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the case was registered at Police Station Counter Intelligence, Jammu, under sections related to “abetment, criminal conspiracy, endangering sovereignty, promoting enmity and publishing false statements, besides Section 13 of UAPA”.

The books in question are ‘Personalities and Legends of J&K’ and ‘Great Personalities of Jammu and Kashmir’.

Police have launched raids at the premises of one of the publishers in Bahu Plaza, Jammu, and seized documents and digital evidence. No arrests have been made so far.

This development comes days after the occupation regime, under pressure from the BJP and allied Hindutva groups, suspended eight officials of the School Education Department and ordered the withdrawal of the two books from government school libraries.

The administration had claimed the books contained “highly inappropriate content”.

The controversy once again highlights the growing intolerance of the Indian administration and Hindutva groups towards any narrative that does not conform to their ideological agenda in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Critics say such actions are part of a broader campaign to censor academic freedom and suppress alternative political voices in the territory.
