IIOJK regime imposes curbs on Majlis, procession in Baramulla
Masroor Abbas questions restrictions, house detention

Srinagar : In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the administration imposed prohibitory restrictions in Budibugh area of Pattan in Baramulla district, preventing the holding of a procession on 29th Muharram.
According to Kashmir Media Service, an order issued by the District Magistrate imposed restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The order stated that a Muharram procession was proposed in Budibugh on July 15. The administration prohibited the gathering and enforced restrictions from 8:30 PM on July 14 until 10:00 PM on July 15.
The restrictions banned assembly of four or more persons, prohibited any procession in the village, restricted carrying of firearms or weapons, and disallowed use of loudspeakers without prior permission of the District Magistrate.
The curbs led to the cancellation of a half-day Majlis scheduled at Imam Bargah Babul Abbas in Budibugh. Senior cleric Masroor Abbas was also placed under house arrest to prevent him from leading the Majlis.
In a statement, Masroor Abbas questioned the basis of the decision, saying residents of Budibugh had submitted a written representation to SHO Pattan stating they had “no objection whatsoever to the holding of the Majlis”. He asked whether the restrictions were based on genuine security concerns or “political considerations”.
The official order, however, maintained that the restrictions were imposed solely as a preventive measure to maintain peace and public order.
