DFP urges President Zardari to intensify diplomatic efforts on Kashmir
Islamabad: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari to continue Pakistan’s leadership in highlighting the human rights situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a letter addressed to the President, DFP Acting Chairman Mahmood Ahmad Saghar expressed concern over what he described as escalating human rights violations in the territory. He referred to reports of mass arrests of Kashmiri youth, demolition of civilian homes, and the continued detention of Hurriyat leaders and thousands of other political prisoners.
Saghar urged Pakistan to further strengthen its diplomatic efforts at international forums, press for an end to human rights violations, secure the release of political detainees, and continue advocating the Kashmiri people’s UN-recognized right to self-determination.
He expressed confidence that Pakistan would continue extending its moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
