Gilgit-Baltistan to observe Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir with full zeal
All Parties Conference reaffirms unwavering solidarity with Kashmiri people
Gilgit: The Gilgit-Baltistan government has decided to observe Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir on August 5, tomorrow, in a befitting manner, reaffirming its unwavering solidarity with the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the decision was taken at an All Parties Conference (APC) held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Gilgit under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Amjad Hussain Azar. The conference was attended by Leader of the Opposition Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman, Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Imran Nadeem Shigri, provincial ministers, leaders of various political and religious parties, APHC-AJK Information Secretary Imtiaz Wani, and other prominent personalities.
Addressing the conference, CM Amjad Hussain Azar said extending political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people’s UN-recognized right to self-determination is Pakistan’s national responsibility. He said India’s unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, were in blatant violation of international law and the relevant United Nations resolutions, and urged the international community to fulfill its commitments to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He strongly condemned India’s continued human rights violations, state repression and attempts to alter the demographic composition of IIOJK, saying solidarity with the Kashmiri people would go beyond statements and be translated into sustained public movement.
Speaking on the occasion, Leader of the Opposition Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman said the Kashmir dispute remains a fundamental component of Pakistan’s national policy and reiterated that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan have always stood shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiri people. He urged the international community to take effective notice of the ongoing human rights violations in IIOJK.
APHC-AJK Information Secretary Imtiaz Wani welcomed the Gilgit-Baltistan government’s decision to officially observe Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir and thanked its government, political leadership and people for their steadfast support for the Kashmir cause. He said the united stance of Gilgit-Baltistan would send a strong message to the world that the Kashmiris are not alone in their just struggle for freedom from Indian occupation.
The conference participants urged the United Nations and the international community to ensure the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir and take immediate notice of the ongoing human rights violations in IIOJK.
The conference also decided to hold a grand solidarity rally in Gilgit on August 5, followed by a special session of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, during which a unanimous resolution would be adopted condemning India’s August 5, 2019 unilateral actions and the continued human rights violations in IIOJK.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Malik Kifayat Advocate met with APHC-AJK Information Secretary Imtiaz Wani. During the meeting, the two discussed the latest situation in IIOJK, India’s continued human rights violations, and developments relating to the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement.
