India’s hosting of obscene fashion show in IIOJK’s Gulmarg a cultural assault, says APHC-AJK
Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has strongly condemned the hosting of an obscene fashion show by India at the tourist destination of Gulmarg in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir during the holy month of Ramadan, describing it as a cultural assault on the Kashmiri people.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, APHC-AJK Secretary Information, in a statement in Islamabad, emphasized that by organizing such an inappropriate fashion show during Ramadan, the Indian government not only disrespected the religious sentiments of Muslims but also violated the essence of Islam, as well as Kashmiri culture and values.
Mushtaq Ahmed Butt underscored that Ramadan is a sacred month of blessings, mercy, and forgiveness for Muslims, and holding such morally objectionable events during this time is not only an affront to religious values but also a direct insult to the emotions of millions of Muslims worldwide.
He further highlighted that Kashmiri culture, renowned for its traditional values and ethics, is being eroded by such fashion shows, which are in stark contrast to the unique cultural identity of Jammu and Kashmir. He labeled these events as part of a deliberate conspiracy aimed at misleading society, particularly the younger generation. Mushtaq Ahmed Butt warned that, amid ongoing human rights violations by Indian occupying forces in the territory, the holding of such events is a calculated effort to exert additional mental and psychological pressure on the Kashmiri people, which will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He pointed out the irony of India, a country that claims to be secular and democratic, actively promoting religious and cultural intolerance in IIOJK. Mushtaq Ahmed Butt called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the hosting of the fashion show, demanding that those responsible be held accountable.
He also expressed deep concern over the international community’s silence in the face of ongoing atrocities, including killings, demographic manipulation, and the seizure of properties and jobs from the Kashmiri people. He urged the world to take immediate action, denounce Indian state terrorism in IIOJK, and ensure the protection of the fundamental, religious, human, and social rights of the Kashmiri population. Additionally, he called for a resolution to the Kashmir dispute that aligns with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and adheres to the United Nations’ resolutions.
