Indian authorities seize another Kashmiri’s property in IIOJK
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the administration under New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor has seized the property of another Kashmiri in Budgam district.
According to Kashmir Media Service, police, acting on the directions of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, seized a shop and a car washing facility belonging to a Kashmiri identified as Muhammad Rafiq Khan in Khansahib area of the district. The properties are reportedly worth around Rs1 million.
The authorities justified the seizure by accusing Muhammad Rafiq of involvement in the drug trade.
Pertinently, since the BJP-led Indian government revoked IIOJK’s special status in August 2019, it has intensified the seizure of Kashmiris’ homes, land and other properties on various pretexts.
Kashmir watchers say that the measure is aimed at economically weakening Kashmiris and advancing a broader demographic agenda by facilitating the transfer of seized properties to non-Kashmiris and altering the demographic composition of the territory.
