Social activist starts indefinite hunger strike in Doda demanding Govt college campus construction

Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, social Activist Manoj Kumar has started an indefinite hunger strike protest outside the office of Sub-Divisional Magistrate in Thathri, Doda, demanding immediate start of the work to construct Government Degree College (GDC), Thathri campus.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest received support from local residents, youth leaders, former elected representatives and members of the civil society, who also joined the protest. Manoj Kumar informed that permanent campus for GDC, Thathri, was a long-pending demand.
“Despite the college being sanctioned years back, students of the locality continue to pursue higher education without a dedicated college campus and adequate academic infrastructure,” he maintained, adding that the hunger strike would continue until construction gets started for the college campus.
The protesters said that students in the area have been deprived of facilities like proper classrooms, laboratories, library, sports infrastructure and a permanent campus.
They raised slogans in support of their demand and called upon the administration to expedite all pending formalities and ensure the commencement of construction work without any further delay.
