111 lives lost to rain, natural disasters in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: Heavy rains and natural disasters have claimed 111 lives in Himachal Pradesh in the financial year 2026, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi informed the state assembly.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a written reply to BJP MLA Vipin Singh Parmar, the minister said the state recorded an average rainfall of 109.80 mm over the past five months. Three cloudburst incidents were also reported in Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti districts during this period.Sirmaur district recorded the highest fatalities with 87 deaths, followed by 16 in Lahaul-Spiti, 4 in Solan, 2 in Mandi, and 1 each in Kangra and Kullu.
The disasters caused extensive damage to property and infrastructure. As per official data, 12 bridges, 766 houses, and thousands of roads were affected across the state. Kangra reported the maximum road damage with 736 roads impacted, while Solan saw 239 houses damaged.
The minister said relief funds have been distributed to 1,871 affected families so far, while 1,260 families are yet to receive compensation due to incomplete applications.
