IIOJK: High alert in Kathua, Udhampur and other districts; operation continues in Majalta forests
Jammu, September 20 (KMS): The Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir administration has issued a high alert for the districts of Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Doda, and Kishtwar.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a large-scale search operation by Indian forces has been underway for several days in the Majalta forests of Udhampur district. During the operation, Indian forces killed two youth in a staged encounter on September 17.
Indian forces launched the operation on the night of September 16 in the dense forests of Bartal, Sohan, and Khuban.
The Indian Army’s ‘White Knight Corps,’ the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the police have intensified cordon-and-search operations in the area.
Sniffer dogs, drones, and helicopters are also being utilized in the operation.
Meanwhile, additional check-posts have been established on the Srinagar-Jammu highway and other key routes, where vehicles, passengers, and pedestrians are being subjected to rigorous searches.
The primary objective of such search operations by Indian forces in the occupied territory is to harass the local population, suppress their freedom of expression, and target them with reprisals for challenging the illegal Indian occupation.
Civilians face severe hardships during these operations and the global human rights organizations, such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, have also repeatedly raised their voices against such operations, openly stating that Indian forces subject local populations to grave human rights violations during cordon-and-search operations.
