Prayer session held in Islamabad to commemorate Hindwara martyrs
Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter organized a prayer session in Islamabad on the 34th anniversary of the martyrs of Hindutva massacre.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the event was held to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in firing by Indian troops on a peaceful protest in Hindwara area of Kupwara district on this day in 1990. Around 21 people were martyred in the firing.
Mahmood Ahmed Sagar, the convener of APHC-AJK convener, presided over the session.
Speakers on the occasion highlighted the impact of the brutal incident, stating that the act cast a shadow on India’s democratic claims. They emphasized the symbolic value of the sacrifices made by Kashmiri martyrs, asserting that these sacrifices continue to bring international attention to the ongoing Kashmir conflict.
The participants called upon international human rights organizations and the United Nations Human Rights Council to conduct impartial investigations into the killings in occupied Kashmir. They urged strict action against Indian forces implicated in war crimes.
In conclusion, prayers were offered for the elevation of the status of Kashmiri martyrs.
APHC-AJK leader Sheikh Yaqoob in a statement called for an immediate end to the Kashmiris’ genocide and insisted on the implementation of UN resolutions for a plebiscite as the only valid basis for the final settlement.
