Complete shutdown to be observed in IIOJK tomorrow

India’s NIA conducts house raids at multiple locations

Srinagar: Complete shutdown will be observed in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, tomorrow, to mark the 40th martyrdom anniversary of prominent Kashmiri leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt.

According to Kashmir Media Service, call for the shutdown has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front and other pro-freedom organizations.

India had hanged Muhammad Maqbool Butt in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on 11th February in 1984 for his leading role in the Kashmiris’ ongoing freedom movement and buried him in the premises of the prison.

APHC leaders including Molvi Bashir Irfani, Khawaja Firdous, Syed Bashir Andrabi and Muhammad Shafi Lone in their statements in Srinagar paying rich tributes to Muhammad Maqbool Butt said the martyrs are the real asset of the Kashmiris’ struggle for freedom from Indian yoke. They said the Kashmiri people will not allow the sacrifices of their martyrs to go waste and will accomplish their mission at all costs. They said despite resorting to the worst state terrorism in the last over seven decades, India has not succeeded to force the Kashmiris to give up their just struggle for securing their right to self-determination.

Posters appeared in different areas of occupied Kashmir asking the people to observe complete shutdown, tomorrow. The posters pasted on walls in Srinagar and other areas of the occupied territory and circulated on social media by various Hurriyat organizations maintained that the Indian brutalities cannot intimidate the Kashmiris into submission.

Meanwhile, sleuths of India’s dreaded National Investigation Agency along with Indian paramilitary personnel conducted raids on the houses of leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami at multiple locations in Kulgam, Srinagar, Baramulla and Jammu districts, today, subjecting the residents to severe harassment. The NIA and other Indian agencies are victimizing the Kashmiris for their affiliation with the ongoing freedom movement.

An analytical report released by Kashmir Media Service, today, said the Hindutva-inspired Bharatiya Janata Party government in India is conspiring to hang illegally detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, for political gains. It said the Modi regime wants to make the Kashmiri leader a scapegoat by using the judiciary to stage a comeback in the 2024 elections in India. It pointed out that India’s NIA has already moved the Delhi High Court seeking conversion of life imprisonment of the JKLF chief to the death penalty. KMS
