IIOJK has glorious history of communal brotherhood: Mirwaiz
Srinagar: All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has a wonderful history of communal brotherhood and there is always an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect between the Muslim majority community and the minority communities.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing the Friday congregation at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar today said the Sikh community of Kashmir has stood shoulder to shoulder with the Muslim community here in very difficult situations.
He said the Sikhs steadfastly maintained their brotherhood with Muslims even during the tragic incident of Chhatti Singhpura. Indian soldiers massacred 35 people of the Sikh community in Chhatti Singhpura but India blamed the massacre of Sikhs on the mujahideen to defame the freedom movement of Kashmiris, but later the investigation of the incident proved that the massacre was done by Indian soldiers.
Congratulating the Sikh community on their religious festival of Guru Purab, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq hoped that the ties between the majority and minority communities of Kashmir will further grow and flourish on the basis of mutual respect and trust.
He expressed deep concern over the daily traffic accidents and loss of precious human lives in the occupied area and urged the administration to take measures to prevent road accidents.
He urged the parents to keep their young children safe and be careful in providing vehicles and motorcycles as these children usually endanger not only their own lives but also the lives of others by their speedy driving.
He also criticized the administration for failing to prevent traffic accidents.
