Sham elections in IIOJK no legitimate substitute for plebiscite

Islamabad: Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Rana Qasim Noon has said that the sham elections in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and the puppet government imposed by India are not a legitimate substitute for the long-awaited plebiscite.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Rana Qasim Noon addressing a news conference in Islamabad, flanked by MNA Dr Tariq Fazal Ch, reiterated that the only viable solution to the Kashmir dispute is plebiscite, outlined in international law and supported by United Nations relevant resolutions.

Qasim Noon appealed to the United Nations to intervene and resolve the long-pending Kashmir dispute. He also condemned India’s human rights abuses in occupied Kashmir.

To a question, he said the Kashmir Committee will soon visit the UK to meet with members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, as well as the Pakistani diaspora. He also mentioned that Pakistan’s diplomatic missions abroad are being activated to raise the Kashmir issue on the global stage.

Speaking on the occasion MNA Dr Tariq Fazal Ch said government and opposition are on same page favouring Kashmir cause. Kashmir committee will continue raising Kashmir issue shaking worlds conscience.

He assured that the Kashmir Committee will continue to raise the issue, aiming to awaken the world’s conscience.
