Atrocities meted out to Indian farmers show Modi govt at war with them: IIOJK Congress president

Jammu: The President of occupied Jammu and Kashmir chapter of Indian National Congress, Vikar Rasool Wani, extending full support to the protesting Indian farmers, has expressed grave concern over the atrocities being meted out to them to prevent their march to Delhi.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Vikar Rasool Wani, addressing media persons at party office in Jammu along with other senior leaders, said that the people of whole India have seen the horrible visuals as how the BJP ruled Haryana state police has been resorting to brutal and inhuman ways of preventing farmers’ march.

He said that besides other atrocities, teargas shells are being lobbed on the farmers using the drones as if the Modi government is at war with them. “It is surprising as to why the BJP-led Indian government and the Haryana government needed to do all this when farmers were marching on, quite peacefully” he added.

He said the BJP and the Indian PM are backing out from what they repeatedly promised to the farmers, adding when the farmers staged a protest sit-in for about one year in the outskirts of Delhi two years ago, Modi promised to consider legal guarantee for the MSP, but nothing has happened since then. “Modi promised to double the farmers’ income by year 2022. Ten years have passed and farmers’ income has dwindled… More farmers have been committing suicide during the Modi’s regime than in the past”.

Vikar Rasool Wani also said, “The J&K Congress shall continue to fight against the wrong policies of the Modi government and BJP with regard to J&K and for the restoration of democratic rights”.
