Locals protest in Mendhar against authorities’ indifference to their plight
Jammu: Residents of Mendhar, in the Poonch district of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, took to the streets in protest against the authorities’ indifference towards their plight amidst a severe water crisis in the town.
According to reports from the Kashmir Media Service, disgruntled protesters expressed their frustration, condemning the prolonged neglect by the authorities in addressing the pressing issue of water scarcity in the area.
Led by social activist Basharat Ahmed, residents from the Shiv Mandir and Fire Station locality near Darana Chowk voiced their grievances against the apathy of the authorities. They protesters lamented the dire situation where broken water pipes have deprived them of drinking water for over six months.
The demonstrators, raising impassioned slogans, highlighted the severity of the issue. As the holy month of Ramzan commenced, residents were compelled to travel long distances to fetch water, adding to their hardship.
