Protests erupt in Kashmir valley against anti-people policies, power cuts
Srinagar: Protests erupted in Srinagar, Kupwara and Baramulla districts in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir against the anti-people policies of the Modi-led Indian government in the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in Srinagar, employees of the Power Development Department (PDD) staged a silent protest, demanding the reinstatement of colleagues suspended by the BJP government. The protest underscores the growing discontent among PDD employees regarding the treatment of their fellow workers by the Hindutva regime.
In Kupwara, including areas like Lolab, Trehgam, and Handwara, residents protested against irregular power supply that has plagued them, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. They are frustrated with the failure of authorities to adhere to a consistent power schedule. This dissatisfaction has led to widespread resentment among locals, who feel let down by the unfulfilled promises made by the authorities.
Similarly, in Uri, Baramulla, residents are deeply disappointed by unscheduled power cuts, especially during crucial times such as Sehri and Iftar. Despite paying increased flat-rate bills, residents continue to face power disruptions, causing significant inconvenience. The situation reached a boiling point earlier in Nambla village, where protests erupted against inflated bills, highlighting the challenges faced by residents living near the Line of Control.
Residents as well as workers are calling for urgent action to address the ongoing challenges and ensure reliable power supply for all.
