IIOJK Congress lashes out at authorities for withholding contractors’ payments
Srinagar: Indian National Congress chapter in occupied Jammu and Kashmir has expressed concern over indifference shown by the authorities’ towards releasing payment of Kashmiri contractors against the work done despite the completion of the financial year.
IIOJK chapter Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir made the comments while reacting to the economic crisis confronting contractors in the territory due to the non-release of payments against the work done despite the completion of financial year 2024.
He said that the occupation authorities’ move has pushed the contractors towards economic distress, besides leaving them unable to clear the payments against supplies they used to receive from different suppliers and agencies for executing the allotted works.
He said it is a serious matter bound to impact the livelihood of labourers also and various other sections involved with contractors.
Ghulam Ahmad Mir asked the authorities to explain as to why the payments were not released before 31st March, lamenting that despite having their work don, the contractors were yet to be given their payments. He urged the New Delhi-installed IIOJK administration to take immediate and effective measures to release the payments.
