West Bengal ruling party exposes links between BJP, law enforcement agencies
Kolkata: In what seen as politicization of law enforcement agencies in India under Narendra Modi government, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has said that the Hindutva party and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are engaged in a political conspiracy to undermine the ruling party in West Bengal, reminiscent of tactics observed in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the TMC said that BJP leaders and NIA officials held covert meetings to fabricate cases against TMC leaders and influence the electoral process in favor of the BJP.
Additionally, the TMC alleges financial irregularities and bribery involving BJP functionaries and NIA personnel. The ongoing political feud between the TMC and BJP has escalated ahead of the state elections, with both parties striving for supremacy.
The involvement of the NIA raises concerns about the politicization of law enforcement agencies. With high stakes involved, the outcome of the West Bengal elections carries broader implications for the country’s political landscape.
