Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that India cannot suppress the Kashmiri people’s resolve for freedom through illegal detentions, arrests and harassment.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar said the Indian troops are conducting widespread raids, cordon and search operations and arrests to stop people from raising voice for their inalienable right to self-determination.

He said, innocent people are being arrested during these opertions across the territory, adding, “India is subjecting the IIOJK people to collective punishment for demanding the UN-mandated plebiscite”.

He said the BJP regime along with Indian army, paramilitary and police forces is denying political space to the people in IIOJK by repeatedly arresting them on fake charges to silence their voice of freedom.

The APHC spokesman said the illegally detained APHC leaders including APHC chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Asiya Andrabi, Hurriyat activists and youth are subjected to worst physical torture and biased behaviour in the jails of India and the occupied territory. He pointed out that despite continued detention and physical and mental torture, the morale of all Hurriyat leaders and activists was high and they were ready to render any sacrifice for the Kashmir cause.

He also expressed his deep concern over the plight of other Kashmiri detainees including Dr. Muhammad Shafi Shariati, Dr. Mohammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Ghulam Qadir Butt, Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, Mohammad Ayub Dar, Mohammad Ayub Mir, Javed Ahmad Khan, Wahid Ahmed Naiko, Feroz Ahmed Dar, Abdul Hameed Tailee, Mohammad Ali Bhat, Tariq Ahmed Mattoo, Mahmood Topi Wala, Bashir Ahmad Pannu, Fayyaz Ahmed, Sharifud-Din-Gujjar, Muhammad Ashraf Peer, Abdul Ghani Gonee, Lateef Ahmad Waja, Ali Mohammad Kalie, Khalid Mehboob Phalwan, Maqsood Ahmed Bhat, Feroz Ahmed Butt, Pervaiz Ahmed Mir, Mohammad Abbas Wani, Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, Abdul Majeed Baba and Fahdullah.

He lamented that that most of these prisoners have spent more than two decades in jails in inhuman conditions.

He maintained the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir are proud of Hurriyat leaders and activists, who are either in jails or striving on ground for achieving a peaceful and sustainable solution to the Kashmir dispute in line with the UN resolutions.

He said UN resolutions have upheld the Kashmiris’ right to decide their future through plebiscite while India has been defying UN resolutions for decades by not holding the plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir.

The APHC spokesman appealed to the UN and international human rights organizations to pressurize India to release the jailed Kashmiris and settle the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Security Council resolutions.
