5 killed in landslides and flash floods in Kupwara
Srinagar: Landslides and flash floods resulting from heavy rainfall have claimed five lives in Kupwara district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, several houses were damaged in the heavy rains, and hundreds of people have been affected.
Landslides have also been reported in Doda, Reasi, Kishtwar, and Ramban districts in Jammu region. Twelve houses suffered damages due to heavy rains in Kishtwar district.
Several low-lying areas in Kupwara and Handwara have been inundated.
Government and private schools remained close on Tuesday in Kashmir as a precautionary measure.
On Tuesday morning, incessant rains led to Jhelum River in Srinagar crossing the flood declaration level.
