JI IIOJK spokesman rearrested for not supporting sham Indian elections
Srinagar: Indian police have claimed that Advocate Zahid Ali, spokesperson for Jamaat-e-Islami, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has been rearrested being involved in activities like conspiracy, anti-India slogans, and an attempt to break out of jail in Srinagar.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Advocate Zahid Ali, hailing from Nihama Pulwama, was apprehended on May 16, 2024. The police asserted that he was implicated in incidents of arson, rioting, and stone pelting at the Srinagar Central Jail back in 2019.
Zahid Ali, who had been previously released after a prolonged period of detention, found himself back in police custody, the other day. This time, his arrest, what experts believe, stems from his refusal to support the Indian parliamentary elections.
The circumstances surrounding the JI spokesman’s re-arrest have raised questions about the handling of dissenting voices and political figures in the occupied territory.
