Kashmir dispute be resolved through dialogue: Mirwaiz

Srinagar: All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that he and the Hurriyat Conference always believe that the Kashmir dispute must be resolved through dialogue for everlasting peace in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a congregational gathering at Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, today, lamented that he was kept away from the pulpit of Jamia Masjid and policy of harassment also continues to be pursued

He said people of Jammu Kashmir have the first right to jobs in their land and they should not be denied it on any pretext. He urged the authorities to revisit the policy of harassment and discrimination.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq hoped that whoever comes to power will take a realistic and humane approach in dealing with the Kashmir dispute.

He also paid homage to shaheed-e-Millat, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq, shaheed-e-Hurriyat Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone and the martyrs of Hawal on their martyrdom anniversaries which because of his detention and cordoning of Eidgah, could not collectively pay homage to these martyrs at the Mazar-e-Shuhada in Eidgah .

“Today I am meeting you after 4 Fridays . As you know I Was again put under house arrest on May 3. For four years they detained me continuously at home and since September last year when they released me , they keep detaining and releasing me again and again . It’s a strange situation. Saddest part for me is being away from the pulpit of Jamia Masjid,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed grief and sorrow over the road accident of a bus full of pilgrims in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district in which 22 people died and dozens injured.
