After Manipur, violence also erupts in Chhattisgarh
Raipur: Thousands of members of the Scheduled Caste Satnami community clashed with police and set fire to parts of the collectorate building in Baloda Bazar district, Chhattisgarh.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesters, demanding ab inquiry into the desecration of their religious site, the Jaitkham, on May 15-16, vandalized vehicles and property, alleging police were protecting the real culprits.
The Jaitkham, a revered symbol of the Satnami community’s spiritual heritage, was vandalized in Giroudhpuri town, sparking outrage and protests. Protesters claim police are shielding the main culprits.
Home Minister Vijay Sharma and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai have promised a judicial inquiry into the incident, which has strained social harmony in the state.
India’s Manipur state is already facing a volatile situation.
