Attacks in IIOJK: India’s desperate attempt to play victim card

Islamabad: In a desperate attempt to divert attention from its own human rights abuses and suppressive policies in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian authorities have again made baseless and unfounded allegations against Pakistan regarding the recent spate of killings in the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the allegations come after a recent surge in military operations and attacks in IIOJK, which has left 12 dead and dozens injured.

Commenting on these killing and injuries, Anand Jain, police chief of Jammu region, speaking to reporters instead of accepting the ground realities tried to shift blame on Pakistan.

Notably, two youth were killed and another injured by Indian troops during a cordon and search operation in Hiranagar area of Kathua district on Tuesday. Earlier, an Indian paramilitary soldier was killed in an attack in the same area. On Wednesday, six Indian troops were injured in another attack in Doda district. Earlier, nine people including Hindu pilgrims were killed and over 30 injured when the bus they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge in Reasi district. Indian officials claimed that the bus swerved off the mountain road and fell into the gorge after unknown attackers fired on the bus.

Indian officials and the media, which is mostly owned by forces that support the BJP, quickly attributed these incidents especially the Reasi bus incident as the handiwork form across the border to hoodwink the world community. However, APHC leaders rejected Indian officials’ claims, stating that the Indian agencies were behind the bus attack as they have a history of similar actions. The leaders viewed the attacks as a conspiracy to defame the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle and distract the world’s attention from the dire situation in IIOJK. They clarified that the struggle is based on high human values and Islamic principles, and there is no room for cowardly attacks on non-combatants.

Meanwhile, political experts and Kashmir watchers say that India is always playing the victim card and blaming Pakistan for its failures. The added that New Delhi has always used falsehood as statecraft to defame Pakistan and the Kashmiris’ righteous struggle for the right to self-determination”.

The political experts and Kashmir watchers maintain that Pakistan is committed to peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute and supports the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions. They pointed out that Pakistan’s position on Kashmir is clear and unwavering, adding the country continues to extend political, diplomatic, and moral support to the Kashmiri people in their just struggle.
