Deadly fire in Kuwait claims at least 40 Indian lives, scores Injured
Kuwait City: At least 40 Indians were among the 49 people killed in a devastating fire in a building in Kuwait’s Mangaf city.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the fire broke out in the early hours of Wednesday, June 12, 2024, and also injured at least 50 people, with many Indians among the injured.
The fire started in a kitchen in the six-storey building, officials said, adding the building had nearly 160 people living in it, who are workers of the same company. Eyewitnesses said some people jumped from the fifth floor of the building to escape the fire and died.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed condolences to the families of the victims, and the Indian government is working to assist those affected.
