Encouragement of public drinking by Modi regime sparks outrage in IIOJK
Srinagar: The Kashmiri Muslim community is expressing outrage over the increasing incidents of public drinking in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which is being encouraged by the Hindutva government led by Narendra Modi in India, under ulterior motives.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulama (MMU), a collective of religious, educational, and social institutions, in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the incident of public drinking on a Shikara in Dal Lake, highlighting the growing concern among the community.
The MMU has reached out to Shikara and Houseboat Unions and hoteliers associations to seek their support in addressing this issue and preventing such incidents in the future.
The MMU has also announced plans to convene a meeting after Eid-ul-Azha to discuss pressing social issues, including drug addiction, suicides, domestic abuse, moral decay, and other problems facing the society.
Religious leaders, social and educational institutions, civil society members, and intellectuals will be invited to the meeting to deliberate on these issues and find solutions.
The community is demanding stricter laws and action from authorities to prevent public drinking and address the growing social issues in the Muslim majority occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
