DFP terms Indian FO spokesman’s statement on Kashmir as misleading
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has strongly condemned the statement of the Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesman, Randhir Jaiswal, on Kashmir and termed it as an attempt to mislead the world community and distort historical facts on Kashmir.
The DFP spokesman, advocate Arshad Iqbal, in a statement in Srinagar said that the Indian FO spokesman’s assertions were against the spirit of the United Nations resolutions that besides acknowledging the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir call for holding a referendum in the region to allow its people to determine their political future through the democratic method of a free and impartial plebiscite.
He said that it was quite unfortunate that India was remorselessly misleading the international community by distorting historical facts. “Kashmir is an internationally-recognised disputed territory”, Iqbal said, adding that the dispute has been on the UN agenda for over seven decades.
Meanwhile, the DFP spokesman condemned the continued bloodshed and violence in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Referring to the killing of Kashmiri youth in Baramulla, Kathua and Doda area, he said that the Indian troops were killing innocent Kashmiri youth in fake encounters.
