APHC leaders, others mourn Maulana Nowshahri’s death
Srinagar: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leaders and organisations have paid rich tributes to Maulana Ghulam Nabi Nowshahri, a prominent leader of Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, who passed away in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Monday.
According to Kashmir Media Service, jailed senior APHC leaders including chairman, Massrat Alam Butt, Shabir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan and Aiyaz Akbar in their separate massages from Tihar Jail ,India, have expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of Maulana Nowshahri. While extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, they paid tributes to his life long struggle and sacrifices for the ongoing freedom struggle. They said Nowshahri was a man of honesty and integrity, who fearlessly advocated for Kashmiris’right to self-determination.
Other APHC leaders including Prof Abdul Ghani Butt and Agha Syed Hasan Al-Musawi Al-Safavi in their separate statements issued in Srinagar also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Maulana Noushhari. They praised Maulana Nowshari’s unwavering dedication to the freedom movement, saying his services will always be remembered by the Kashmiri people.
The statements extended condolences to the bereaved family and Jamaat-e-Islami, praying for the deceased to be granted a place in Allah’s mercy and Jannat al-Firdous.
Ghulam Nabi Fai Secretary General World Kashmir Awareness Forum in a statement said it is with sadness to announce the demise of Moulana Ghulam Nabi Nowshahri who was suffering from kidney disease for the last few years. He said Maulana was a parliamentarian, social activist, a Dayee, leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Indian occupied Kashmir and an educationist. He was an observer and a direct participant of Kashmir’s struggle for freedom since early 1950’s. He was an elected member of Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly and a close associate of Syed Ali Gilani and Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and represented both of them while residing in Pakistan.
“We honor the illustrious life of courage and fearlessness and salute his commitment and dedication for the cause of Kashmir. The people of Kashmir will never forget the selfless contribution and the tireless efforts of Moulana Nowshahri Sahib. We will miss him a lot! May Allah pace his soul in Jannatul Firdous! Ameen,” he said.
World Kashmir Freedom Movement leader Nazir Qureshi addressing an event in London also hailed the service of Maulana Nowshahri for the Kashmir Kashmir cause.
