1 dead, several injured as roof collapses at Delhi airport; flight ops disrupted
New Delhi: One person died and four others were injured after a section of the roof at the Delhi airport collapsed amidst heavy rain early Friday morning.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the tragic incident happened at Terminal 1 of the Delhi airport.
The Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation has suspended all departures from Terminal 1 until further notice in the aftermath of the collapse. Officials are making alternative arrangements to ensure smooth flight operations.
Authorities reported the cancellation of sixteen departure flights and twelve arrival flights since midnight.
In addition to the airport incident, New Delhi woke up to heavy rainfall causing widespread waterlogging and traffic disruptions across the city. Low-lying areas experienced flooding, with water entering homes and vehicles stranded on submerged roads and underpasses during the morning rush hour.
