‘BJP exposed’: Opposition leaders criticise Modi govt over Delhi airport T1 roof collapse
New Delhi: Following the roof collapse at Terminal 1 of the Delhi airport, which resulted in the death of at least one person and injuries to eight others, the Opposition criticised the Indian government for its inadequate infrastructure developments under Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra commented on the incident, highlighting a series of recent mishaps and accusing the BJP of a corrupt model that favours business donors. She questioned whether the “Chief Inauguration Minister” would take responsibility for the substandard construction work and corruption.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also criticised the Indian government, attributing the collapse to corruption and negligence over the past decade of Modi’s governance. He referenced Modi’s inauguration of Delhi Airport’s T1 on March 10th and accused him of focusing on ribbon-cutting ceremonies for electoral gains, offering condolences to the victims of the tragedy.
Trinamool Congress MP Saket Gokhale expressed his shock, pointing out that Modi had hastily inaugurated T1 in March while it was still under construction for election campaigning purposes. Gokhale suggested that Modi should be held accountable for the deaths, accusing him of prioritizing his campaign over safety.
