IIOJK varsity students protest against exorbitant fee hike, poor infrastructure
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, students of Central University Kashmir staged a protest against the massive fee hike and the lack of basic facilities in the campus.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a large number of students gathered at the Tulmulla campus in Ganderbal district holding banners that read, “Fee Hike Rolled Back” and “Education is a Right, Not a Privilege.” The protesters said that the university had significantly increased fees, making it difficult for students to continue their education.
“We are not against the university but are against the exorbitant fees being charged while not providing basic facilities on the campus,” said the protesting students. “We lack clean drinking water, functional washrooms, and new campus buildings.”
Despite repeated requests, they said that the IIOJK administration had failed to provide any relief or support. “They have turned a deaf ear to our pleas,” they said, adding, “We are left with no option but to protest and demand justice.”
The protesters vowed to continue their demonstration until their demands are met.
