Kashmir resolution as per UN resolutions key to South Asian peace: PM Shehbaz
Dushanbe: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the importance of resolving the Kashmir dispute according to UN Security Council resolutions to achieve peace in South Asia.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking at a joint news conference with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe, today, PM Shehbaz Sharif condemned the ongoing oppression in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Gaza. “Peace in South Asia will remain elusive until the Kashmir dispute is resolved in light of UN Security Council resolutions,” he added.
Sharif acknowledged the significant sacrifices made by Pakistan and Tajikistan in combating terrorism and expressed Pakistan’s willingness to cooperate further in this area. He also called for enhanced trade, investment, and connectivity between the two countries.
Upon his arrival at Qasr-e-Millat, Prime Minister Sharif was warmly welcomed by President Rahmon and received a guard of honour from the Tajik armed forces. The two leaders also held a one-on-one meeting to discuss the China-Tajikistan and Afghanistan corridor, among other issues.
