International Justice Day loses meaning for caged Kashmiris in IIOJK
Islamabad: As the world commemorates World Day for International Justice, the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir continue to be denied justice for over seven decades.
A report by Kashmir Media Service highlights the struggles of the oppressed people of Jammu and Kashmir, who remain committed to their rightful demand for freedom and justice.
The report states that Kashmiris face deepening military violence, house raids, detentions, atrocities, and discrimination under Indian occupation. Indian troops, paramilitary forces, and police personnel enjoy impunity under draconian laws, committing grave human rights abuses and war crimes to suppress the demand for self-determination.
The report deplores the lack of justice for victims of mass killings, custodial killings, fake encounters, and rapes. The Indian judiciary has failed to punish Indian soldiers and policemen involved in war crimes, instead sentencing Kashmiri liberation leaders like Muhammad Maqbool Butt, Muhammad Afzal Guru, and others.
Over 5,000 Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Dr Hameed Fayaz, Naheeda Nasreen, Fehmeeda Sofi, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Syed Shahid Yousuf, Syed Shakeel Yousuf, Muzaffar Ahmad Dar, Ghulam Muhammad Butt, Moulvi Bashir Ahmed, Bilal Siddiqi, Zafar Akbar Butt, Muhammad Yousuf Falahi, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, Abdul Ahad Parra, Ameer Hamza, Hayat Ahmed Butt, Dr Muhammad Shafi Shariati, Ghulam Qadir Butt, Muhammad Qasim Faktoo, Omar Adil Dar, Firdous Ahmed Shah, Muhmmad Yasin Butt, Saleem Nanaji, Noor Muhammad Fayaz, Zahoor Ahmed Butt, human rights activists, Khurram Parviaz and journalists had been languishing in different jails of India and the territory and were yet to receive justice. The report urges the international community to intervene and deliver justice to the oppressed Kashmiri people.
APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas condemned the Indian state terrorism and urged the international community to support the Kashmiri people’s rightful demand for plebiscite.
