Struggle for Kashmir’s freedom from Indian tyranny continuation of battle of Karbala

Srinagar: In a stark reminder of the historic battle of Karbala, the ongoing struggle for self-determination in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) continues to face relentless oppression by the Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the parallels between the two struggles are evident in the numerous massacres, internet shutdowns, and curbs on freedom of speech that have become a hallmark of Indian rule in the occupied territory. The Gaw Kadal massacre (1990), Sopore massacre (1993), and Shopian massacre (2018) are just a few examples of the brutality inflicted upon the Kashmiri people.
The Indian government’s efforts to silence the voices of dissent have resulted in frequent arrests of journalists, activists, and civilians, with over 233 instances of internet shutdowns since 2012, including the longest-ever shutdown from August 2019 to March 2020.
Despite the overwhelming odds, the resilience of the Kashmiri people remains unwavering, inspired by the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and the principles of Karbala. For them, the struggle for freedom is a continuation of the battle of Karbala, with those offering supreme sacrifices for the cause considered true followers of Imam Hussain’s legacy.
In contrast, those collaborating with India are seen as companions of Yazid, the tyrant who opposed Imam Hussain. Modi’s regime is viewed as a manifestation of Yazid’s tyranny, with the Kashmiri resistance mirroring the courageous struggle of Imam Hussain.
The spirit of Karbala continues to fuel the determination of Kashmiris against Indian occupation, with the people honoring the legacy of Karbala’s martyrs by defying Indian tyranny with unwavering bravery. The message of Karbala and Imam Hussain for Kashmiris is clear: remain steadfast and firm against Indian oppression, and by following the path of Imam Hussain’s unwavering bravery, Kashmiris will ultimately prevail over Indian oppression and achieve freedom.
