Parents suspect foul play, demand probe into soldier son’s death in IIOJK

Srinagar: The grief-stricken parents of Nikhil Dhadwal, an Agniveer soldier who died under mysterious circumstances in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, are pleading with Indian President Droupadi Murmu to investigate their son’s death and deliver justice.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Nikhil’s father, Daler Singh, a taxi driver, and his mother are struggling to come to terms with the loss of their son, who was just 22 years old. “We were told he was injured, and then we were told he was dead. We want to know what happened to our son,” Daler Singh said, his voice cracking with emotion.

The family suspects foul play and is demanding a probe into the circumstances surrounding Nikhil’s death. “We want the truth to come out so that no other family has to suffer like us,” said Akhil, Nikhil’s brother.

Specifically, the family suspects that Nikhil’s death may not have been an accident or due to natural causes, as claimed by the army. They believe that there may have been some negligence or wrongdoing on the part of the army or his colleagues, and are seeking a thorough investigation to uncover the truth.

The family’s grief has turned to anger and frustration as they seek answers about their son’s death. “We want justice for Nikhil,” said his father. “We want to know what happened to him.”

The incident has raised questions about the safety and well-being of Agniveer soldiers, and the family’s plea for justice has resonated with many. The government has yet to respond to the family’s demands for an investigation.

The young soldier’s body was brought back to his native village in Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur district, where he was cremated with full state honors. The funeral was attended by hundreds of people.

Nikhil Dhadwal was killed on Thursday in the Tanda area in Akhnoor, Jammu, where he was posted. The reason for his death is still unknown, but his family was told that he had been seriously injured and then died.
