Conference at UK Parliament to reinforce Kashmiris’ right to self-determination
London, UK,: Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK is hosting a conference at the British Parliament, tomorrow, to mark the 5th anniversary of the abrogation of special status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by the India’s Modi government.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the event, chaired by Jess Phillips MP, aims to mobilize public opinion in favor of a UN-promised plebiscite for Kashmiris.
The conference will take place at the Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. The event seeks to highlight India’s unilateral removal of Kashmir’s special status on August 5, 2019, which contravened UN Security Council resolutions and international law.
Kashmiris have been living under a regime that has accelerated settler colonialism, artificially changing the demographics in the disputed territory, violating UN Conventions. The conference aims to spark collaborative debates and deliberations, addressing international inaction and apathy.
MPs and public figures have been invited to participate and show support for the Kashmiri right to self-determination.
